| I'm Sophie. I grew up in New Jersey, USA, where I spent a tranquil childhood in a quiet town, until the desire to experience other cultures propelled me into the wider world. I have spent the past several years living in countries as various as Japan, India, Egypt, Israel, France and Lithuania. I enjoy English teaching because language is not made only of words and grammar, but also of thought and expression. Learning any language is a journey of cultural exploration rewarding both to student and teacher. I feel really lucky to be have met people of so many different cultures through English teaching |

| Hello and welcome to ELI!! My name is Andrewand I am an American from San Francisco. I have been in Kyoto for two and a half years now, and I love living in this beautiful city. In my free time I like playing guitar by the Kamo River and cooking recipes from around the world. Learning a language can be a great experience and I want to create the best lessons that I can here at ELI. | What I like most about teaching is communication. This is a very good chance for me to get to know many different people and their opinions about life. Sometimes it's hard to understand another culture, another language and other values, but the more I succeed in it the more I believe I can teach better and give my students better understanding of western culture and English language. It is a very rewarding job and I really enjoy doing it. |
